About Us

Our Mission

Never again will our neighbors and friends have to struggle to feed their families. The fresh meat, chicken, and large variety of side dishes and salads has enabled them to nourish their children with healthy, well balanced meals. To date, we have distributed over twenty thousand portions. A team of dedicated volunteers work many hours each week picking up, repackaging, and delivering the food. We never forget our families and provide for them all year round. Before Rosh Hashana, we distribute cases of fish and chicken. Before Pesach each family receives a large variety of ingredients to cook with, as well as grape juice and paper goods. During the Nine Days, the families are presented with a large grocery order. We go the extra mile to make sure no child is ever deprived of a wholesome and nutritious meal.

The dedicated volunteers of Bais Hatashvil Reb Shaya'le Keresterir exert tremendous effort in ensuring that the families' dignity is never compromised.

Our Founder

In 2013, Shimon Charach and Yossi Katz noticed that unfortunately there are families in Brooklyn that are struggling so much that they cannot afford the basic ingredients to prepare wholesome meals for their families. At the same time, the local delis and take-out stores, as well as simcha halls, were throwing out perfectly fresh food that has been left over. He hit upon an ingenious idea. Singlehandedly, he would pick up the leftover food from these local stores and simcha halls, repackage them in pans and containers and deliver it to these struggling families. The food was delivered in boxes from local supermarkets, thus ensuring the families’ dignity remained intact. The demand grew so much, that within a few short months it burgeoned into a full fledged chessed operation, with numerous volunteers involved in various aspects of the organization.
